Daeth ddeddfwriaeth ar gael i awdurdodau lleol Cymru yn gynnar yn 2007 sy'n rhoi pwerau i gynghorau i godi gatiau sy'n cloi mewn lonydd cefn a fabwysiadwyd neu droedffyrdd lle ceir lefelau uchel o ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol neu droseddu. Mae Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Castell-nedd Port Talbot yn ymroddedig i wella ansawdd bywyd ar gyfer ei thrigolion ac yn gweithio mewn partneriaeth agos â'r heddlu a'r cymunedau lleol wrth weithredu'r cynllun gosod gatiau lle mae ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol yn nodi ei bod yn angenrheidiol.
