Election of Police and Crime Commissioner for the South Wales Police Area - 2 May 2024
An election is to be held for a Police and Crime Commissioner for the South Wales Police Area.
- Nomination papers may be obtained from the office of the Police Area Returning Officer at the Civic Centre, Port Talbot, SA13 1PJ at the times stated below.
- Nomination papers must be delivered to the Police Area Returning Officer, Civic Centre,
Port Talbot, SA13 1PJ between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm on any working day after the date of this notice but not later than 4:00pm on Friday, 5 April 2024. - The deposit for each candidate of five thousand pounds (£5,000) can be deposited with the Police Area Returning Officer by 4:00pm on Friday, 5 April 2024, by direct bank transfer (subject to prior approval), banker’s draft (banks operating in the UK only) or by cash (British pounds only).
- If the election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday, 2 May 2024.
- Applications to register to vote at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (as shown below), by 11:59pm on Tuesday, 16 April 2024. Applications can be made online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
- Electors and their proxies should take note that all applications, amendments or cancellations for new and existing postal and proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (as shown below) by 5:00pm on Wednesday, 17 April 2024. This includes electors or their proxies who wish to make alterations to their existing arrangements on a permanent basis. Applications to vote by post can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
- New applications to vote by proxy (not postal/emergency proxies) must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (as shown below) by 5:00pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024. Applications to vote by proxy can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote
- Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (as shown below) by 5:00pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate can be made online at www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
- Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer (as shown below) by 5:00pm on Thursday, 2 May 2024. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5:00pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024. To apply on the grounds of work / service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5:00pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024.
