Notice of Election Addresses

Election of Police and Crime Commissioner for the South Wales Police Area - 2 May 2024

In accordance with paragraph 2, Schedule 8, Part 1 of the Police and Crime Commissioner Elections Order 2012 (as amended), the Police Area Returning Officer must give public notice for the latest time that candidates standing in this election may submit their candidate address.

The deadline for candidates to submit their election address will be 12:00pm on Friday 5 April 2024.

  1. The election address must be prepared by the candidate’s agent on the prescribed form, must contain a statement that has been prepared by the candidate’s agent, and submitted directly to the online system to the Police Area Returning Officer by the above time.
  2. The name and address of the election agent must also be given.
  3. The election address must be submitted in English and Welsh and the election agent may also submit a translation into Welsh or English which is a complete and accurate translation.
  4. An election address must specify the candidate’s name and must contain matter relating to the above election only.
  5. The election address must not contain any advertising material (other than material promoting the candidate as a candidate at the election).
  6. The election address must not contain any material referring to any other candidate for the election.
  7. The election address must not appear to the Police Area Returning Officer to contain any material with a view to commercial gain, or be indecent, obscene or offensive.
  8. The election address must not be a publication or distribution that would likely to amount to the commission of an offence.
  9. Any photograph showing the candidate which is included in the election address must show no other person and must comply with paragraphs 5 to 8 above.
  10. The election address may include representation of a registered emblem, or (as the case may be) one of the registered emblems, of a registered political party, if the address is prepared on behalf of an authorised party candidate.
  11. When an election address is prepared on behalf of an authorised party candidate, the address may contain a description under section 28A of The Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 or, if the description is registered for use by candidates of two or more parties, under section 28B of that Act.
  12. The election address must be capable of being produced in hard copy form, and comply with the requirements of the prescribed form.
