Food hygiene rating scheme
The primary purpose of this scheme is to help consumers make informed choices about the places in which they eat out and from which they purchase food, and, through this, to encourage businesses to improve hygiene standards.
The scope of the scheme extends to establishments supplying food direct to consumers. This includes restaurants, cafes, takeaways, sandwich shops and other places that people eat food prepared outside of the home, as well as food retailers.
