Melincourt Waterfalls Nature Reserve

Things to see

Often overshadowed by waterfalls in Brecon Beacons National Park, Melincourt nature reserve boasts:

  • a 12-acre nature reserve
  • spectacular 80ft high waterfall
  • blast-furnace and ironworks ruins
  • diverse range of trees, plants and wildlife
  • the Turner hiking trail

Parking

The waterfall is approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the car park.

The Turner trail

Turner trail distance: 5 miles, time approx: 2 - 3 hours, level: moderate.

For a more challenging walk, take The Turner Trail. See the stunning landscape that painter J. M. W. Turner captured in his many sketches of the area.

The route begins at the National Trust Aberdulais Tin Works and Waterfall. It follows the Dulais River and River Neath before reaching Melincourt Waterfall.

Sgwd Gwladys waterfall

Visit Sgwd Gwladys waterfall in Pontneddfechan. Only a 12 minute drive away you'll find four impressive waterfalls on the Elidir trail.
