We had a record number of entries this year, making the competition stronger than ever before.”

Sheenagh Rees, Neath Port Talbot Council’s Head of People and Organisational Development, said: “At Neath Port Talbot we work as one to provide great value for money services to all our 140,000 residents. Our work touches most aspects of people’s lives. From social services and schools, to housing and roads, to attracting investment to ensure Neath Port Talbot is a great place to live, work and visit.

“Working in partnership with our communities, we have ambitious plans to deliver the best possible outcomes, now and in the future, right across Neath Port Talbot – and it’s our own people who will make this happen. That’s why we have developed the Future of Work Strategy, a strategic workforce plan for 2022 – 2027.

“The plan was developed to deliver the ambition set out in the council’s Recover, Reset, Renew Corporate Plan for 2022 – 2027: We believe people make the difference. We will ensure our people are well led, supported, trusted and recognised for the contribution they make.

“People will be treated fairly and with respect and also encouraged to bring forward ideas about how we can improve what we do. We will develop a workforce which is representative of its communities and people will have equal opportunity to progress in our organisation. We will develop a culture where people are accountable for and recognised for what they do and how they do it.

“I am delighted we have had such a strong showing in the nominations for the 2024 CIPD Awards Wales.”

Neath Port Talbot Council Chief Executive Karen Jones added: “The Future of Work programme is making a real difference here at Neath Port Talbot. Recognition from CIPD is the icing on the cake. Good luck everyone for the final!”
