Neath Port Talbot Council is asking residents and visitors for their views on proposals to invest £7.7 million in facilities and infrastructure at Waterfall Country Pontneddfechan in order to ease visitor pressures in the area.
In 2022 Neath Port Talbot Council submitted a successful funding application to the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund to deliver investment at Pontneddfechan which will:
• Create a permanent parking solution for the area
• Deliver new and improved public toilet provision
• Create a farm/community shop
• Create low key visitor accommodation provision
• See Improvements to road safety, public realm and landscaping.
The proposals are now being made available to view via a drop in session at The Angel Inn, Pontneddfechan on Thursday 28th September 2023, 11am to 4.30pm. At the drop in session the public will also be able to talk with the architects who are designing the scheme.
Cllr Cen Phillips, Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Nature, Tourism and Wellbeing said: “We are urging the public to contribute to the consultation on these exciting proposals for Pontneddfechan. We are committed to delivering investment which alleviates the pressures experienced by the local community and to put in place the infrastructure needed to manage visitors more effectively.”
Cllr Jeremy Hurley, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Economic Growth said; ‘We are very grateful to have received this hugely significant funding offer from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund. The council has made clear its aim to support the valleys and villages of Neath Port Talbot and to deliver initiatives which ensure that our local environment, culture and heritage can be enjoyed by future generations.’
Full details of the proposal will be available to download on the Neath Port Talbot Council website: www.npt.gov.uk/pontneddfechan
Residents and visitors are encouraged to provide their feedback on the proposal via an online survey which can also be accessed via the Council’s website.
After the drop in session the project plans will remain on display near the Pontneddfechan public convenience building until the consultation closes on Friday 3rd November 2023.
