Margam Country Park Unveils New Recycling Bins

05 June 2023

Margam Country Park has introduced new recycling bins which have been placed throughout the park for visitors to use with the aim of improving both the visitor experience and the environment.

A Recycling Roadshow was held at Margam Country Park on Thursday 1st June to unveil the new bins. Throughout the Roadshow, visitors had the chance to meet with members of Neath Port Talbot Council’s Recycling Team.

The Friends of Margam Park group was also on hand throughout the day to help answer any questions.

The bins are made from recycled materials and were supplied by Second Life Products Wales, following the company’s ethos of caring for the environment and helping to mitigate the effect our waste has on it.

The park’s new bins are placed within and outside the Castle Courtyard and also close to the Adventure Playground and Fairytale Village.

Cllr Jeremy Hurley, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Economic Growth, said: “We all want a cleaner environment and supporting initiatives like this to help encourage recycling and improve recycling rates is one small step towards a more sustainable future.

“Margam Park is one of the most popular attractions in Wales and these very visible recycling facilities will be really well used. We believe that, by working together, we can make a real difference in tackling waste.

“Wales is the UK’s top recycling nation and one of the leading recycling countries world-wide but more must be done to meet the Welsh Government’s ambitious 70% recycling target by 2025.

“Recycling helps protect the environment, conserves energy resources and also reduces the use of landfill sites.”
