The Friends of Margam Park are delighted to have been awarded funding as part of the Mynydd Brombil Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund to purchase three brand new all-terrain mobility scooters.
The mobility scooters will be available to hire by Margam Country Park’s visitors, improving the accessibility of the Park.
Both the friends group and the park hope the new all-terrain additions will encourage more visitors with mobility restrictions to visit the park. As a result these, visitors will be able to enjoy the picturesque landscape, architecture and wildlife the park has to offer.
It has long been a goal of the Friends of Margam Park to assist in making the park more accessible for visitors with restricted mobility.
Tony Barrett, the Chairperson of the Friends of Margam Park said: “Following a test drive on site at the park it was clear the Pride Ranger all-terrain scooter was the perfect choice. With its front and rear suspension, dual hydraulic brakes, comfortable captain’s chair, and user-friendly controls the scooter handled the park terrain in safety and comfort.”
The scooters have been supplied by local main Pride dealer LTC Mobility in Llanelli and will be arriving at the 850-acre deer park on Friday 10th March.
The scooters can be booked in advance by emailing scooter-hire@friendsofmargampark.co.uk they can also be booked on the day (subject to availability) at the Turbine House.
There will be a hire charge of £2 per hour which will go towards the maintenance of the fleet, and a refundable deposit of £10 payable on the day. On collection, members of the Friends of Margam Park will show visitors around the scooter to familiarise the controls before use.
Cllr Jeremy Hurley, Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Wellbeing said: “This is a very welcome addition to the country park. The availability of these scooters for those with mobility issues helps make Margam accessible to people who might not otherwise visit.”
The scooters are available to hire from March 15th 2023.
