Members of Neath Port Talbot Council’s new Coalition Cabinet will discuss a range of important issues at what will be their second meeting on July 28th.
At the meeting, the Cabinet could approve spending £4.25m to “clean up and green up” towns, valleys and villages across Neath Port Talbot.
The money comes from additional Welsh Government funding and the council’s approved spending programme.
New Leader Cllr Stephen Hunt said earlier this month improving the ‘public realm’ in Neath Port Talbot was one of the Coalition’s early priorities.
Also on the agenda will be proposals to extend the Welsh Government’s flagship Flying Start programme to three additional areas of Neath Port Talbot – Margam, Gwaun Cae Gurwen and Port Talbot.
That would mean an estimated 127 extra children in Neath Port Talbot would get specialist help and another 32 would be helped by boosting capacity in the Flying Start Outreach Programme.
The Cabinet will also be asked to approve a commissioning exercise for the delivery of Families First services in Neath Port Talbot – Families First is also an early intervention and prevention programme aimed at improving outcomes for children and young people aged up to 25 and families.
There will also be an update on bringing Leisure Services back under the council’s management (in house) and Cabinet members will be asked to agree a regional investment plan for the South West Wales region of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund that could bring funding worth more than £27m into Neath Port Talbot.
