Recover, Reset, Renew – council sets its sights on the future with corporate plan launch

Neath Port Talbot Council has launched a new corporate plan which has people and communities placed firmly its heart. ‘Recover, Reset, Renew’ has been informed by the views of people living and working in the county borough from the very earliest stages.
The final plan, approved at Cabinet on 28 February and launched today, is the result of six months of engagement and consultation to ensure that it is a collaboration between the council, partners, businesses, residents and visitors to the county borough.
The plan covers the period 2022 to 2027 and sets out how the council will approach recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic in the short, medium and longer term.
Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Cllr Ted Latham said:
“Throughout the pandemic the council, communities, businesses and partners have worked together to support vulnerable residents, protect our NHS and keep essential services running. This spirit of working together is one we want to continue as we learn to live with Covid-19 and begin to recover from the pandemic, so involving our communities the development of Recover, Reset, Renew and taking on board their views from the outset was crucial.
“These views helped shape our plan, which lays out four well-being objectives for the council over the next five years, together with details of the strategies, programmes and activities we will put in place to achieve them as we work towards our goal of helping people in Neath Port Talbot to live good lives.
“I would like to thank everyone who helped to develop the plan by sharing their views. We are keen to maintain this engagement and will be continuing the dialogue as we move forward with delivering the plan.”
The new corporate plan summarises the context in which it has been developed and sets out the council’s strategic change programme for the next five years which has four well-being objectives:
- All children get the best start in life.
- All communities are thriving and sustainable.
- Our local environment, culture and heritage can be enjoyed by future generations.
- Local people are skilled and access high quality, green jobs.
Continuing in the spirit of collaboration, the new plan will be available in a range of formats. As well as the full version, there is a ‘plan on a page’ edition and there will be an Easy Read version, all available in both Welsh and English.
