Bin and recycling stickers

A sticker on your wheelie bin, black bag, or recycling means we have not been able to collect your waste.

Here is a list of our stickers and what they mean:

Green - excess waste

You have presented too much waste on your collection day.

Please remove it from the street and recycle all that you can.

Residents are only allowed to present 1 wheeled bin or 3 black bags.

If you do recycle all you can and still put out large amounts of non-recyclable waste you can contact our team for advice at recycle4npt@npt.gov.uk.

Blue - wrong day or week

You have presented your waste on the incorrect day or week.

Remove it from the street and put it back out on your correct collection day.

Check your refuse and recycling collection day

Yellow - waste not collected

The sticker will show you why your waste was not collected.

Remove your waste from the street and address the reason(s) for non-collection.

We will collect as normal on your next collection day.

Reasons for non-collection

1. Recycling presented in plastic bags

Put your recycling in our bags and boxes. Make sure they go in loose.

You can order recycling equipment online.

2. Bags / boxes contain mixed materials

Make sure materials go in the correct bag or box.

3. Bags / boxes are too heavy

Distribute your waste over more bags to ensure they are not too heavy.

Remember you can have as much recycling equipment as you need.

4. Presented extra bin(s)

We will collect 1 wheelie bin every other week.

If you do recycle all you can and still put out large amounts of non-recyclable waste you can contact our team for advice at recycle4npt@npt.gov.uk.

5. This bin is for storage purposes only

This bin is for storage only and should not be out for collection. Please present purple bags on their own.

6. This bag contains soil

Large amounts of soil make the bags:

  • difficult to compost
  • difficult to empty
  • very heavy
