Description
I am a gentleman in my 60’s living in the Port Talbot area. I have Down Syndrome and a moderate learning disability resulting in communication difficulties. I have recently been diagnosed with the onset of dementia and I also have a visual impairment. I enjoy socialising and attending community activities. I already have two PA’s to support me into the community and I attend respite each week which I enjoy. I now require morning support with breakfast and personal care.
Purpose
- Support me with morning personal care, including a shower
- Prepare and assist me with breakfast
- Ensure my safety, as I can be unsteady on my feet.
- Be aware of my eating and drinking guidelines.
Person Type
A person who:
- Is honest, dependable, and flexible.
- Is supportive, patient, calm and understanding.
- Is confident about working alone but who can also work as part of a team.
- Previous experience is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.
Hours
10 hours per week to be worked 7:45am – 9:15am Monday to Saturday and 8:00 – 9:00 each Sunday.
This role may suit a job share arrangement.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.
You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
