Secondary school based counselling
The Secondary School Counselling Service is free.
It's available to young people aged 11-18 who attend a secondary school in Neath Port Talbot.
Counselling sessions
All counselling sessions are face to face, private and confidential.
The counsellor will not share anything discussed at the session with staff members, friends or family members, unless:
- you ask them too
- they feel you or others are at risk
You will not have to miss the same lesson each week. The counsellor will work with you to avoid this.
At the end of each session, you will decide together the date and time of the next.
What do counselling sessions offer
We offer a safe space for you to talk about what’s on your mind, free from judgment.
Concerns or difficulties you may wish to explore during the sessions could include:
- anxiety
- change in circumstances
- controlling feelings of anger
- family pressures and relationships
- loss of a loved one
- low mood
- mental health and wellbeing
- missing school
- past difficulties
- returning to school following absence
- self worth
- stress
