Neath Port Talbot Council streetcare teams are working with tree specialists at the scene of a landslip on privately owned land at the rear of Cae Copor, Cwmavon, Port Talbot.
The slip occurred on sloping land adjacent to the B4286 road and tree felling is currently being carried out to ensure the area is safe.
The council is working with the landowner in a bid to secure a swift resolution to issues which are outside Neath Port Talbot Council’s jurisdiction.
Traffic management will be in place on the B4286, which has been reduced to one lane for a distance of approximately 250m along its length to the junction of Tabernacle Terrace, for the duration of the emergency work.
However, from 7pm on Thursday, January 26th until the early hours of Friday, January 27th, the B4286 road will be closed completely so large, felled trees can be removed.
A temporary traffic order has been put in place for five days and the site will be assessed on Monday or Tuesday of next week.
A council spokesman said: “We thank residents living close to the site of the landslip to be patient while we work with the landowner to ensure that trees caught up in the landslip are removed for reasons of public safety. This will be followed by soil removal.”
Further updates will be provided as the work progresses.
